In order plan optimal land use of river margins and flood plains, the prohibitive, restrictive and warning zones for agricultural, constructive and industrial activities must be determined. Flood zonation maps are the base information in disaster management. They represent useful information about flood nature and effects on floodplain area. Therewith was available the possibility of send the suitable alarms in flood hazard situations and convenience of relife and salvation. The present study has been conducted Zarinehrood river in western Azerbaijan province in length 16.6 km. In this study, discharge for different return periods (2, 5, 10, 20, 25, 50, 80, 100, 200, 500 years) was calculated by using Ghez Korpi station data. The water profile was calculated using HEC-RAS software and flood zoning maps provided using HEC-GeoRAS extension in GIS. Based on final planes land use of riverine are not affected by flood hazard but building and cultivate developing limited floodplain and restricted river channel.
