		<Abstract>Khooni exploratory area is located at 270 kilometers of North East of Esfahan and belongs to Central Iran geological zone. The Proterozoic metamorphic and Eocene volcanics rocks are the main geological features in the study area. Nowadays, applying remote sensing in different sciences is going to be common. One of its important applications is the exploration of mineral resources. The goal of this research is delineation of alteration zones related to gold mineralization in the Khooni area by application of remote sensing methods. In order to achieve this aim, necessary corrections were carried out on the images (ASTER). Different processing techniques of ASTER imagery such as false color composite, band ratio, Selective Principal Component Analysis (Crosta) and spectral angle mapper are used for identification of the alteration zones associated with gold mineralization and finally, major alterations were enhanced in the region. Based on the resulting images, propylitic alteration in Khooni and phyllic and argillic alteration in the Kalkafi region were detection and the results of the mentioned different methods were compared with each other and geological map, for identify the optimal method. Finally Spectral Angle mapping was diagnosed as a successful method for more accurate separation of altered minerals. Also alteration areas of different processing methods have conformed to each other that indicated the accuracy and efficiency of processing on ASTER satellite data.</Abstract>
