آثار فعالیتهای نوزمینساختی گسل شمال تبریز به صورت انواع مختلف نشانگرهای تکتونیک فعال در طول پرتگاههای آن قابل مشاهده است. در این پژوهش ابتدا گسل شمال تبریز به سه پاره اصلی و بر مبنای پارامترهای ساختاری و لرزه زمین ساختی پاره بندی شده است. سپس وضعیت تنش دیرین مورد بررسی قرار گرفته و میدان تنش دیرین بازسازی شده است. پس از گردآوری دادههای گسل-خش لغزش تحلیل تنش دیرین با روش وارونسازی انجام شده است. برای این منظور اندازهگیری دادههای گسل-خش در 12 ایستگاه مختلف در امتداد این گسل و در پرتگاههای گسلی صورت گرفت. نتایج حاصل از این تحقیق در تطابق با حرکات امتدادلغز راستگردی این گسل در کواترنر، نشانگر حرکات مورب لغزی این گسل در گذشته و در طول فعالیت آن است.
