Quality as one of the essential concepts of knowledge and urban furniture profession theoretically and practically are very important. In addition to the theoretical importance, due to the low quality that currently most of our country’s urban environments face this problem, infractice the quality has been changed as one of the essential questions so that citizens express their concern about the shortage of quality in the urban furniture elements. Standardization or quality of urban furniture in space desirability, sustainability of urban furniture, increasing the efficiency of these elements, promotion of satisfaction level and creating a calm and attractive environment for citizens will be highly effective. The study area of this research includes the main streets leading to Tajrish Square located in zones 3 and 7 of Tehran Dist. 1. The applied method is a combination of documentary studies field work with distribution of questionnaire among users. After collection of data obtained from questionnaire (380 cases) and its classification, statistics (descriptive and inferential) were analyzed by SPSS. According to results, for planning of these urban elements in the zone, no considerable strength points have been observed, for instance lack of quality in drinking faucets, washrooms, bench, bus station shelter and other facilities are assumed as items mentioned by citizens. The other objectives of this study included analyzing the effectiveness of culture, and religion on citizens (particularly the women) for their nonuse of half of urban furniture in open urban spaces. Summary of results obtained from field studies using questionnaire distribution indicates that citizens’ satisfaction of zone with the quality of urban furniture elements within the respective zone has been lowly and citizens are not satisfied with the quality of available furniture. Furthermore, the statistical community explained that the culture and religion are extremely deemed as an important and effective factor for citizens’ use or non use of a variety of elements of urban-recreational furniture in the open urban spaces and public areas.
